I don't know, but I would suspect that this is just the name given by the manual to a memo field. Flex, because you have the flexibility to use variable-length texts.
IIRC, Clipper used more or less standard DBF files (i.e., dBASE III compatible), but used its own formats for both memo fields and indices. See if you have files with the same name as the DBF, but different extensions.
You asked for an expert in Pyramid Claims, but perhaps a search for a Clipper-dBASE 3 (or Clipper-FoxPro) conversion utility might serve you just as well.
If you have the software installed, you may also want to check whether there is something that remotely resembles an "export" function. I would start checking the "File" menu, if there is one.
