Sorry to disagree on the concept of running VFP on Linux itself. MS gives us a pretty good deal on VFP, namely no additional distribution licensing cost, beyond the need to have Windows. I am very happy about this, and am more interested in keeping them updating VFP than saving a few dollars. A few dollars I can pay, but I can't update VFP.

There is no free lunch. Use one of the database tools created in/for open source.
