I am sorry I don't have a ready answer as I don't do reports. I know about the trick you mention of using a window to control preview. I've never used it and I see that it wouldn't work with _screen minimized or off. I wonder if you could redirect to a floating (SDI form).

I sugggest you ask it again, in the Reports section. Maybe somebody can offer a good solution for you.
