Your story reminds me of one of the biggest companies in Norway, with branch offices on most countries around the world. The managament is so afraid of bugs and heaven knows what, that they always use "outdated" software, and no one is allowed to use any version of any program which has not been available for at least four years. I don't know if Windows XP is allowed yet. It's really scaring!
>One of our "mainframe" geniuses here said that we shouldn't buy Visual FoxPro 9.0 because it hasn't been tried and proven to work. You know, I can't believe how many of these guys I have run into who know nothing about the product and yet are so willing to throw mud at it. I straightened him out ASAP and told him that I had been using the VFP 9.0 BETA and that it was a very stable product. At that point, he only said, "Okay". Because of my height, I bulldozed past his argument and was able to get my way. The order for VFP 9.0 went through on my recommendation.

>Now, what would have happened if I only stood 5' 4" and had a high-pitched voice? How many more of these supposed smart MIS "guys" are out there who know so much about Visual FoxPro, but have never used it? Man,...!!! No matter how good this product is, and it is obviously a great product, there is always some "knowledgeable" MIS person ready to slam it, having never known anything about it. But, can you trust a mainframe person anyway?
