Jim,

In the Section Expert, you can bring up the Color tab of the Details section and attach a formula condition to the background color based upon the Crystal "RecordNumber" value (i.e. depending on whether it's odd or even).

I haven't personally tried this, but I thought it might lead you in the right direction.
