I generally use Character type fields ( even for key fields ) specially when there is a chance i'll use these fields in param. views. This way, in my app, setting the parameter to the empty string just ignores this parameter. This is great specially for views with many parameters. The problem is that i would like to use Integer fields instead of char. for some key fields to improve speed and efficiency, but in this case, how would i go to make the view ignore the parameter involving the integer field? Setting it to 0 just brings me all those records having the 0 value, not at all what i want.
