If you must look at Linux you might find this useful:
www.pcsoft.fr/us/WinDev is a rad tool like VFP with a native database like VFP plus SQL connectivity, mobile, .Net, Windows, Linux database hosting, and more. They are looking at porting the application side to Linux as well.
