My Mom was English and to this day I still eat my fries with malt vinegar. Simply the best way to eat them.

Another treat is to take heavily buttered bread (real fresh crusty bread is best), put a mound of fires on it, then fold and squish and eat away.
For a while I remember being fond of the same recipe, but with peanut batter added too.

Growing up in Quebec in the 50s, Friday was fantastic. A very Catholic province (practising heavily back then) Friday was fish day (i.e. no meat) and every restaurant in town cooked fish and chips on Fridays. We were all drooling, all the time!
