server is 2processor p166 (alr), with 500Megs RAM (yup, that's really 500M!).

what kind of performance are you seeing? how many inserts per second approximately? i'm not using any stored procedures at all, just direct data inserts. the table has about 6 indexes, including a primary key, but this should not be the cause of the difference that i see (or at least i don't think so) between vfp and delphi.
