I suggest you listen to experience. Just because you can do something, it does not necessarily make it a good idea. Pictures in general fields sounded like a good idea, but experience has showed that you should try to avoid it, more or less at all cost. One reason why you should avoid it, is the fact that all pictures need MUCH more space in a general field.

Store the file name of the picture, with or without path, in a character field, period. For a report, use the image control.
