It is pretty common in Wisconsin (or was when I grew up there anyway) to eat cheese curd from any of the many cheese factories. We would buy it by the bagful. It squeaks when you eat it (worse than mushrooms). I know people that refuse to eat cheese curd simply because they cannot stand the 'squeak!' :o)
