Understood. It's a shame you aren't on VFP 8 or higher since that would be a good scenario for using the CursorAdapter object. I find it curious that you would encounter locking if you are just retrieving data from the tables. Are you sure that your ODBC connection is not using the data exclusively (either through the connection string or on the DSN configuration screen)?
