Perry,
Rather than debating on UT about which oil is better, anybody can look at the nutrition label on the food they buy- see
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/transfat.html .
Note the advice in this FDA document- "When possible, substitute alternative fats that are higher in mono- and polyunsaturated fats like olive oil, canola oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil and corn oil." I don't see cottonseed oil included in that group.
Extra virgin olive oil has an excellent health profile, Period. It has been tested for thousands of years on humans unlike other chemically extracted oils. My advice: compare the nutrition labels of oils in the supermarket to see for yourself. Check out the imported italian first press olive oils, especially the organic ones that will have no pesticide residues. I always buy them.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
