Just a sketch of an idea:

Is there any way you can know the length of each group (e.g. a certain field is so long that you know it will go to the next page)?
So is there any way the code to create your print file can split the one data item into two potential groups: 1. for fits on page 2. overflows
You can make 2 groups on the report, one for each groupable report var: the long group always starts on a new page.

Hope this makes sense.
