>I think much can be learned by compare the performance of students from the US with their counter parts from around the world. Particularly comparison from the Japanese, Koreans and the Chinese. If you look at the results, it make you wonder how US remains the leader of the world in anything.
What I have noticed with my 2 children is they will do as we expect them to do with respect to their ages. As long as we can recognize when we set the bar too high and act/react appropriately, we will be fine and so will our children. When we set the bar too low, they are more than happy to underachieve.
