Mark;

Teaching in public schools concentrates upon “socialization” rather than academics. As for class size, I have my school pictures from Kindergarten through the eighth grade of Catholic school. I enjoy looking at these pictures as we had fifty-two students, one Catholic Nun, and no teacher’s assistants! The average student grade was A-.

According to several articles I have read 17% of Public School Graduates earn a college degree, while the number for Catholic School Graduates is over 98%. Could there be a difference in the quality and emphasis of education between these two systems? Perish the thought!

For those students who have attended Public School and have been socialized through grade 12 and go on to college, there is a rude awaking! The emphasis suddenly is upon academics. “You mean I have to read and write”? We have to appease the teachers unions, politicians and God knows what else to enjoy our Public School System!

If you gave the Public School System an infinite amount of money, they would require more! :)

In the end more money will not cure the problems with Public Education. It is a system that has failed.

Tom
