So it doesn't matter about accessing local database. We can get a very powerful database back end for a very nominal fee. In fact the longer I use MySQL, I wonder why ever use MS SQLServer 200X.
MySQL5.0 is gold. Comes with it's own managing tool, very much like MS Enterprise Manager.
