I have created the intermediate classes you speak of with my own tag prefix for the web controls. I have even added some additional functionality to each object without any issues.

>No, No. This is not a question about changing visual properties, like color. That was just the simplest example that I could think of to convey the concept. The value of an intermediate class heiracrhy is well documented in books and articles.
