Hi Jordan :)
Hope u did not get ofended in any way by my heavily biased VFP post :)
What to do I just like it!
I am aware of what is going on with VFP not being part of NET
and on top of M$ agenda. Point is that they have power to
directly influence or force (and also badly hurt [see VB case]) crowds of developers to move their way - and they are simply using it in their own interest.
That is main reason why I believe they gonna keep VFP alive for god number of years. There is interest in keeping it alive. Lower in power & features then it could be, but good enough to prevent some other vendors of going for it. Until they come with something that can really beat it and overtake that part of market.
So who ever wants to believe (as they believed other stories some years back)
that VFP is dead and is time to move some place else, it is their own
(good or bad) bussiness decision.
Personally I never liked moving in the middle of the crowd :)
And I am not moving yet - in my own interest.
BTW, Can you send me link to that Gartner survey ?
>Hi Sergio,
>I think that way 3-4 years ago. When I readed for the first thime some foresee for future of the IT(done by Gartner Group) it seems me unbelivable. But last year I found that we almost move by them. MS also move the market in the same direction.
>Yes there are some places where we are 1 year behind schedule, but we move in that direction.
>It is hard for me too. Last year I have to switch in training of my employees. I start to get more ASP.Net projects and to avoid development of large C/S systems in .Net.
