As Mike already told you, you cannot automate Outlook Express. However, there are alternative if you need e-mail functionality in your app but do not have control over the e-mail client.

You can use MAPI if you are certain that the e-mail client will be MAPI complient. You can use CDO for Windows 2000 and later as long as you have access to an SMTP server either locally or on the net. Finally, there are third party tools available either for free (blat) or for a very reasonable price (Rick Strahl's wwipstuff)
