Simon,

>>I've just been sowing some pohutukawa seeds we brought back.

OK. So when pohutakawa turns into a noxious weed in the UK in the until-now-unknown optimum conditions that prevail, we know who to blame!

>>Our forecast for the weekend is wintry showers, although today is a bit warmer at about 9 or 10.

Yes. I never found it that cold where I was in Oxford or Exeter. It snowed a little bit in Exeter one year just before Christmas, but uninsulated weatherboard houses aren't prevalent in the UK so nobody cared.

>>Your forecast is for rain, sun, gusty winds and then more of that every day for the foreseeable future...

Come on, every so often we have some fog and hail as well, and yesterday there was a miniature tornado down south ;-)

Regards

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
