Unfortunately, I don't think you can think like you anymore. I can't tell your age from your pic, so I don't know if that has something to do with it. But there have been numerous stories, including a big one today in the Los Angeles Times, about the changing economy. Whereas we were always told a college degree guaranteed a good steady job, it is obviously not the case anymore.

Possibly, from your title, you work for a government agency. Unfortunately for the majority who don't work for the govt, there is no guarantee anymore.

>>Seriously, If I want to look at available posted VFP jobs on Monster, the only filter I put in is Foxpro. Any additional filters and the amount of jobs that pops up is so few it's kind of depressing.

>>For the last 10 years, everytime I go job hunting it's significantly more difficult then the last time. Except, of course, for the dotcom burb.

>>Since you appear to work for a company, how hard will it be for you to find another job if you current gig ended tomorrow?

>Our company uses VFP thoroughly, so I doubt my current gig will end tomorrow for a change of technology. When that change occurrs, it will be gradually enough to allow us to learn the new technology of that moment, that it might not even need to be the current one, and VFP will need maintenance anyways. So, barring the termination of the company altogether, something I seriously doubt, my gig will end when I found a new job I want to move on, or when I get fired, in which case it won't look good in my resume indistinctly of the technology used <g>

>Anyways, I understand what you are saying, but, I do not share your view that the problem is with the "New Technology", for many of these NT are available to use with VFP, and, if I understand correctly all what Ken Levy has said, it is also a leader in new technologies, for, isn't it true that the VFP team is working close with the VS Team to add a local data engine to .NET?
