I will try as much as possible to avoid Hidden Folders because as you said some commands (eg USE ...) will work with Hidden Folders but others such as (SET DEFAULT TO ... , CD ...) will generate the error "Invalid Path or Filename". This is an inconsistency that Microsoft should eradicate.

I agree that MS should make it work consistently or at least document it and as it currently works makes it foolish to use hidden folders at all. The most insidious error that I encountered before I knew about this problem was when using ALTER TABLE on a table in a hidden folder (which happened to be the Windows TEMP folder). It was somehow able to find the file to alter, but was unable to create the new file with the new structure and the end result was that the table was deleted, nd all data was lost and it threw a runtime error. After many hours of testing various commands and functions, the glaring inconsistency in how VFP handles hidden folders became clearly evident that using hidden folders is problematic and should be avoided at all cost.
