Think of it as string substitution. May not be that simple in all cases - the new string may be longer so it won't fit the space on a button. The old string may be a part of the sentence... like "I have found "+trans(n)+" files." In some other language, the sentence may have to read trans(n)+" files I found" - the construction of the sentence may be completely different. One string may need to be split into two or two strings may need to be put together.
