Martin,
I have used that approach in the past the only bad thing about replying to your own message (to further explain the problem) is that now the message is removed from the "Unanswered list of questions" (the little button with a question mark icon). I assume many of the "big helpers" use that feature when they have a little time on their hands to help people (I know I use that feature when I wanna try to help someone out).
I still think it would be a nice feature, amybe add a checkbox for the user to check if they want it back in the new message list and somehow mark it that it is an updated message.
Anywho just my $0.02 worth.

>>>No, because there is no way of knowing for sure if the update really requires a reload among new messages. Most of the times, when an update is done, it is to fix a typo. So, if users start to receive the same message over again, they'll start wondering what is going on.

>Just FYI, messages just can be edited only while they have not a single answer. This is to avoid communication problems with anybody replying something that then is wiped or altered in the original.

>For cases like the one you describe (having additional information you want to add to you original message) a good approach is to add a reply to you own original message, stating something like "addenda" to the message top. In this way, pleople will see it as a new message, and will have all the threading information intact.
