I once lived in Santa Monica, California near Los Angeles (about 28 years ago). They seemed to have of people from the UK there at that time and some businesses (like a restaurant) that served that community. Depending on your circumstances, you may enjoy living in an area that offers you good support. A move like you're describing is a major "fork in the road" of your life. If you come, welcome.
