Canada may be progressive, but taxes are regressive. Value added and sales taxes hit the poorest in a disproportional amount. So if we must have taxes, then income taxes are typically not regressive. If I were king for a day, there would be only be a personal income tax. However, I would structure it so a percentage of the value of any luxuries (boats, yachts, houses) you enjoy as a corporate suit in lieu of a "salaried" income would count as your income.

What Canada is trying to do goes against international taxation, trade, and possibly NAFTA. This is just a government money grab, and there is no way I believe that, if this stands, the financial viability of the UT might not be jeopardized. It just depends on affordability and principal.

Oligarchs and the agents and "grocery" clerks masking as our representatives hide behind offshoring business units so they don't have to pay for the infrastructure they consume. The world belongs to the common worker caste like us - Canada would be a great place to begin a strategy whereby the royalty caste begins to pay for the use of "our" infrastructure (as well as "our" promise not to eat them!:-)
