Here you have some taxation :)
In Finland you pay 22% taxes for buying things from a store (or in restaurant) and 17% buying food milk, meat, bread etc. from a shop. If you earn $4000 - $5000 you (estimate) have taxes >50% (and progressing) from your brutto salary. When you have paid your taxes for your salary and for your assets and your heirs get your assets after your are gone, they must pay estate taxes - many cases they have to sell all the assets just to pay taxes. Gasolin (english gallon ~4,55 litre) costs ~US$ 7.3. F.ex. Corvette in US $44,510-$55,200 here almost US$ 150000.
What about salaries f.ex. medical doctor salary per month (without overtime work) is ~ US$ 4000
