Peter,

I don't have a problem signing a collective letter of complaint to the Canadian tax department, but I think the only reasonable chance of success would be to petition one's own government with a complaint, and encourage *them* to contact the people in the Canadian tax department directly. If you can't get an official of your own government to agree that this tax is improper, you don't stand much chance of making the case to the Canadians as an individual or even a group of individuals.

If you still have any energy left, I'd suggest inquiring with someone in the Dutch Department of Commerce, or whatever it's called. Likewise, I encourage anyone in any other country who has an idea whom to contact about such a complaint. If someone in the US wants to pursue this, they can add my name to the list. Beyond that, I don't have the time or the connections.

I agree this is a potential threat to the UT's existence, based on what Michel has said. I hope he will achieve a satisfactory resolution, for everybody's benefit, and that Michel will not be shy about soliciting any further assistance he may need.

Mike
