>I am looking for shortcuts. I actually think it was a piece of code you posted a few months ago. I am attempting to narrow down and speed up my search for shortcuts on the Desktop and Start Menu by searching 'c:\windows' for 98 systems and 'c:\documents and settings' for 2000 and XP. The purpose is to delete our older shortcuts.

There's no guarantee that 'desktop' will be under directories you listed on all PCs. See

- How do I get the path of special folders from Windows FAQ #16022
- How do I retrieve special folders without relying on Shell.Application? FAQ #16115

All above should work under Win2K and later but may not under Win98.
