up until VFP apeared most of our programs were dos base
btw, even now 50% of our programs are dos (until VFP5.0 hebrew edition will be out...)
VFP is radically different from fp2.x and though it apears to have
the same syntax and can run old code to make the most of it u need new techniques and new approaches for programming
our dev. team is not too big either, so what we did was to put the dos apps on low-fire and go ahead learn VFP (luckily for me I've programmed in OO langs and "normal" DBMSs before VFP - so the learning curve wasn't to steep) build the new system in VFP from scratch and move
the users to windows only when the new system was ready
this is IMHO the way to go, to change old code to incorporate the new
VFP tech. is just adding overhead increse complexity and cause more troubles
another point for re-engineering was that we took the chance to re-analyze the system and change the asapt the DB to our company's new needs
