I believe that God decided the time was ripe for a major change. This major change may have been brewing for centuries, or longer, but now the time is ripe.

Some sort of change has been announced a long time ago. For instance, a large part of the book of Isaias - as well as other Holy Writings - forecast some sort of Word Peace. Obviously, this will not happen overnight, nor will the transition to a New World Order be an easy one, as we can all observe - but it will happen eventually.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
