Simplest Treeview for VFP

This control is a simple treeview using the WebBrowser control and a HTML file to drive a VFP form. The tree itself is a standard html outline using the "UL"/"LI" tags. What make this the simplest, is that the only one OnClick event is established, and that is at the first (or root) "UL" tag.

Description
How to use: In this demo, when the user clicks on a category item (bold faced), the category is either expanded or colapsed.But when the item (normal face) is clicked, their caption is placed in the Textbox above. Click on Category to expand the category of items. Then clicking on the Category a second time will collapse the category. A Shift+Click on a Category will expand or collapse all sub-categories. How it works: As can be seen, the tree is a HTML Outline using the "UL" and "LI" tags. The first "UL" tag has the OnClick event, and all child outline tags bubble their OnClick events to this one. The format of the tree is open to the developer. Images, different fonts and colors can be applied either directly in the HTML file or globally through a CSS stylesheet. When the item is clicked, the BeforeNavigate2 event in the WebBrowser is called. The URL of the HRef attribute of the "A" tag is passed. Looking at the sTreeView.htm file, you will notice that the HRef references a string that starts will "VFP:". The BeforeNavigate2 event will look for this prefix and if found, it will execute the remainder of the string as a Visual FoxPro statement. The Cancel parameter is then set to False to prevent the WebBrowser from attempt to load a page by that name.

To Jay, I can only reproduce this problem if I attempt to view the HTML page in the browser. The "VFP:" at the begin of the "A" tag's HREF informs the WebBrowser control in the VCX class to process the preceeding command as VFP. The actual Tree will work in a browser if the HREF attributes had normal web address or Javascript code. Greg Reichert, December 23, 2003
