Definitely... Taiwan makes a complex situation even worse. It's not an accident that China wrote a declaration authorizing war in case Taiwan goes for independence at this point in time. More telling is China's switch from military spending directed primarily toward research and prototypes to a massive build up of war ships and other functional military units. From what we know about China, they don't build weapons of war on a large scale unless they have serious plans to use them. Perhaps because of the US militaries pre-occupation with Iraq and Iran, China sees this as an opportuntity to get Taiwan under control.

Let's face it... Iraq has been struggle enough for our military and the economy. War with China is almost unthinkable. Which is probably why China is starting to throw their strength around.

The media also deadended the FBI report that there are 3,000 Chinese front companies operating in the United States whose primary mission is to spy and collect military data. FBI calls it the biggest intelligence threat the US faces in the next decade.

Wonder how many Americans caught this story on the daily news?

>>This is why America can't do anything to stop the trade gap. It's tiny and insignificance compared to the massive debt owed to China. If we were to get heavy handed with them they would simply stop loaning the US money. Worse China would unhinge their currency from the dollar. Now America wants them to do that to help the trade defecit but if we were not getting the cheap goods from China then we would see massive hyper-inflation as product costs soar.

>Just brings up the question of Taiwan... if these guys really proclaim independence, USA won't have pants soon. That is, if USA does good on its promise to protect Taiwan in case of any military intervention from mainland China. Seems like a nice situation between the hammer and the anvil (sorry for using outsourced Serbian phrase, somehow "between a rock and a hard place" sounds unconvincing).
