Hugo,

I've worked with John Baird for years. I can tell you that he is very strong in both VFP and SQL Server. He's delivered solutions in both for many years. He has constructed different "mini" frameworks in VFP to streamline development on different projects. His co-workers and colleagues often seek answers from him on a variety of technical changes, and he's always willing to drop what he does to help someone. Just because he chooses not to do so here, doesn't mean he isn't doing it elsewhere. I personally know developers who have benefited greatly from John's experience and knowledge.

His employers and clients have also tasked him with design and data modeling projects, in recognition of his skills in those areas. Generally speaking, he's viewed as a leader wherever he works. If I were starting a new VFP/SQL project today, he'd be one of the first I'd try to recruit. John has also spent the last year on independent study of .NET and web technology, and I'm sure he'll become strong in those areas if he continues with it.

Yes, John can be acerbic and sarcastic - in some cases, it's a response to some of the attitudes regarding this and other discussions.

I hope this addresses your speculation as to his proficiency.

Kevin
