Hi Terry
Little did I know I was in the presence of a truly genius.

>>You These conversion shops don't write applications - they sell snake oil, >>books and seminars to un productive - i-need-an-excuse-for-not-being-able->>to-do-it-myself wanna be's. A "real" programmer would do it hisself - and >>would never, NEVER, hire an out of house shop to do a rewrite for them.

Funny... I thought you were an an independent consulant? Is this is the case why do people hire you? Probably because you add value to their existing teams?

>>Call me proud - but I would just dig down and learn. I would never put >>myself in a position to buy from others what I should be able to learn for >>myself.

Funny how I have seen a number of very bright people attending sessions at conferences. Heck aroun a month ago I was in a seminar that attended by Charles Petzold. I bet he's a lot smarter than you and I combined yet he is attending a seminar.

>>Point 3) DOT NOT work is all going off-shore - time to hang the hat on >productivity and innovation - because the "change-in-technology" gambit is >>about to flatten out into the dribbled drone of a dry-drunk white-paper >>pounder!
Yes work is getting outsourced. It's actually been a fact of life for 10+ years. When I worked with SBT (9+ years ago) we had a number of developers from india on our team. I actually think that VFP work is much better suited than other types of work. Why... it's very well known how to architect and write applications in this stuff. It's too bad the demand isn't there any more.

>>It's a con - though innocent - that preys on the looser image these >>developers[?] have fallen into by blaming VFP for all their woes. I don't >>need a seminar to learn a new platform - do you?

Seems the folks complaining here are the ones blaming microsoft for the demise of their product. This is transference of accountability. Developers are responsible for keeping up with the times.
