Hi Kevin

>1) If the app is being run for the 1st time, there is always the initial load of the .NET Framework, which can take several seconds, depending on the machine. (Though I've never seen it take 30 seconds). Subsequent loads are always faster. This is a general fact of life for .NET apps.

I will try to gather more perfect timing and post. Let us say I misread, it was 15secs, then it will definately be higher on a PIV. Remember there was a time when a Clipper app was considered to be good as it was compiled natively (or whatever it is called) and an FPD app was bad just becuase it was loaded by FPD loader.

>2) You say your VFP6 app loads instantly. Is it doing the same things as this accounting app?

Connecting to a FireBird database, checking for internet connectivity, initial load of the app and stuff.

>3) Related question...what is this business accounting app doing at startup? Is the 30 seconds completely due to loading the framework, are there database checks or other application checks being done? Any info might be helpful.

Hard to say, because there is no splash screen, so I am assuming the application has not got the control yet.
Regards
Bhavbhuti
