>>Someone asked here several weeks ago about travelling in New York City. One response mentioned a hotel in Manhattan that cost around $80 and had all kinds of murals and paintings. I couldn't tell from the website if the place was very nice, but it sure looked interesting. Then I forgot the name and lost the link.

Thank you. The hotel I was trying to remember, mentioned in the other thread, was the Carleton Arms. It would be somewhat cheaper, a lot more spartan, and a lot more colorful than the Ramada Inn mentioned by Dragan.

I have a friend who lives in Merrick, on Long Island. It's a bit far out of the city, so I still think that a hotel would be useful to me.

If I arrived by car, I would be concerned about the hotel's parking situation.
