Thaknks for your response. I can understand your concern if everything else runs quickly on the box, but the .NET app seemed sluggish. Again, the framework can take several seconds, but 30 or even 15 seconds on a hefty machine is quite a bit. It would certainly not be inappropriate to ask (to whoever wrote it) what processes are occuring before anything appears.

I mentioned in another message that on many apps I get involved with, some of the biggest refactoring takes place on start-up routines. It's always been about the approach as opposed to the technology. If the app takes roughly the same amount of time to load after closing the app and restarting, then you may want to ask what's going on under the hood when someone puts the keys in.

Out of curiosity...after you eventually got into the software, how did the rest of the app perform?

I did see your post to Rod. I'm not trying to be harsh (well, maybe a little bit), but it sounds like you agree you need to get some more details before drawing any general conclusion.
