Of course having the media in their pocket (for the media's own selfish reasons, not because there is some kind of pact) makes even seeing the true problem far harder. The media may not lie, but it sure can deliver only what is suited to them, in a way that best accommodates their own interests.
The neo-con politicians do lie, but their doctrine says that's all well and good and "legal" when it's done for their greater objectives. A liar can never be trusted to tell the truth, but one has to recognize the lies before that can be enacted. Presently far too many people believe that politicians wouldn't lie, and most especially those professing deep faith so frequently.
