You have to understand the connection between the Neo-Conservatives and the Religious Righter. From a Neo-Conservative point of view, a Theocratic America would be preferred to a Democratic America. If America were Theocratic, the Neo-Conservative government could turn it police and judicial power over to the Theocrats, and let them enforce a national moral, civic, and criminal code based on Old Testament Biblical law. In this way it would be easy for the Neo-Conservatives to maintain civil obedience and keep its working and poor classes in chains of servitude.

Also, the Neo-Conservative could have their Theocratic arm eliminate any of the Neo-Conservative's enemies, by having their enemies attacked by the theologians. This would allow a single set of law to which everybody would have to conform. It would also create one state/church, which they feel would provide a stronger religious base for the country as a whole.

However, the Neo-Conservative doctrine does not mention that America became the most powerful economy and military, over its short 200+ year history, based on a Democratic form of Government that provided constitutional protection and freedoms to every American, regardless of class status. I just don’t want them in power.”[51] Or take Ann Coulter’s assertions: “Liberals have a preternatural gift for striking a position on the side of treason.” Or, “Whenever the nation is under attack, from within or without, liberals side with the enemy.” (It turns out that every single “liberal” in the country is a member of the Democratic Party and therefore is a traitor.)[52]

The Machiavellian nature of the Dominionist cult explains why Bill Clinton who is a Christian believer was attacked so viciously for his sexual folly but Newt Gingrich, Bill Livingston, Henry Hyde, Strom Thurmond and scores of other Republicans escaped the punishment of public ridicule, verbal abuse, and humiliation for the same sexual peccadilloes. (It appears only Democratic “liberals” must be held to the fire of biblical standards and biblical punishments because as we all know, they are “unregenerate from the beginning of time.”)
