May be I found the curlprit.

My laptop AMD athlon 1400 has a damn slow hd(dont know i/o or seek time) with 128 mb ram and XP home. When ever i run the sql queirs the hd lights up and takes many secs to turn off and untill then the system is unresponsive or very slow . even switching between the applications is slow. May be i was misled by that .

I have found that the sql causes that behivariour and not Xbase.
