FYI relations and "set key to" like to work wonderfully well for me - and actually this is in solution.app since vfp3.0 as I remember:) I don't know why they don't work for you.
No I didn't use optimize, my grids already show and move instantly I don't know what it'd do for me. Maybe in the future.
