Very true! The personality is important [#1}. There are other ingredients and power is one. What you do behind the scenes to stay in office and mold the world in your image is not often seen by the average person. Even when a popular leader does wrong chances are he will be forgiven.

I have met Germans who lived through the depression and Hitler years. They still love Hitler for having given them jobs. These same people have not stated anything negative to me about what Hitler did to Germany and the world. “Hitler was a good man”!

>>All political systems lead to corruption. Corruption is found in lesser or greater degrees within every political system.

>>Word is that Newt Gingridge will run for President for the Republican Party. He has been criticizing Tom DeLay for his dishonesty. Remember Newt’s Contract with America of 1994? How about when Newt had to resign when he was caught and fined for his illegal activities? Bob Dole provided the money to pay Newt's fine. How soon people forget. Or is it people just do not care?

>When it comes to politics, people talk about a candidate's policies, character, experience, etc., but I don't think those thing are as important as others do. I think that it really comes down to whether or not they like the person. I don't know if too many people really liked Clinton's policies or especially his character, but people liked him. It didn't matter so much what he said or what he had done, it was the fact that people liked him.

>If you could go back in time and create a person to run in Clinton's place, with his same policies and past behavior, I doubt he would have been elected.
