>>The best though, was years ago when I was in my 20's. My buddy Steve and I used to go down to the YMCA to play table tennis. We got to be pretty good over time. One day we were playing a a young girl (probably about 14 or so) came and sat down to watch. She asked if she could play the winner. (You must know where this is going). We said, sure < snicker >. Well. as bad luck would have it, I beat Steve. She and I played 3 games. Over the course of those 3 games, I got one, count 'em, ONE point. I found out later that she was Violetta Nesukaitis who would become the only Canadian to win the Women's US Open Table Tennis championship 4 times.

I would have done, but while she was small, she was wiry, and I figured one humiliation a day was enough.

>The day I was due to win a TT competition (in my hotel on holiday - I was the favourite), I'd been horse-riding and was inexperienced, the horse was a lazy SOB and, knowing we were on the last leg, got the bit between his teeth and was cantering home. I lost my left stirrup as the horse took an unbiddden sharp left turn, and fell onto hard bakes, stone-studded earth. I was knocked out in the 1st round as my opponent, seeing my rib discomfort, kept serving to my far right. I don't think I got ONE point.
