I just said I would not engage in a debate about religion but that sentence set me off. IMO the threat of a wrathful God is a thunderbolt the unimaginative have attempted to hurl at their more imaginative brethren for centuries. The argument is not becoming more persuasive, just more strident. Read a few Greek plays and you will know all you need to know about the Bible -- the need to create heroes and myths. I read the Bible exactly the same way I read "Oedipus Rex" or "Agamemnon" -- full of insight but not to be taken literally.
