As for redirecting tmpfiles, I'm not sure whether in VFP6 it was possible to direct it to a user directory; and in any case, you won't know that the user directory is at that moment.
FWIW, it's not a problem in VFP7 onward, based on my TS2003 experience, not on any special knowledge.
