>>I see a few people talking about diesel etc on this thread. My friend has a Golf TDI and loves it, it is new and fast, only marginally slower than the GTI. I know that there are problems getting diesel on US but i read recently that its use is on the up due to the rising cost of petrol. The new diesel engines are great, clean, economical to the point of putting petrol to shame, and they no longer have the slowness that they were once renowned for. my friend who has the TDI had Golf before hand, the one below the GTI and loved that as well. as well as that all of the revieweres in europe love it, heralding it as the best since the true original, the mark1.

>Thanks Mark. I read that Volkswagen Golf is the #1 seller in Europe. Judging from the feed backs I've read so far, I can't go wrong with the Golf/GTI family. I need to do some soul searching about diesel tho.

>Thanks.
Just make sure you test the difference in price between the gas and the diesel versions of the car against the amount you drive. If you don't drive much, you won't save enough to pay back the price difference in the car for a very long time. On the other hand, if the difference is worth it to you just for the sake of the environment, go for diesel.
