I am asking this on behalf of a friend - I don't personally use client/server yet.

She has speed problems, when connecting to Oracle, and wants to know what can be done to optimize the connection.

She is currently establishing a connection with function SQLCONNECT(), establishing an ODBC connection.

It takes about 4-5 seconds just to establish the connection.

Also, it takes several seconds to open each remote view.

Using VFP6 - apparently no service pack.

Is there an alternative that is faster than ODBC? Or is this restricted to versions newer than VFP6?
