Transportation. Don't be buying a 8000 pound gas-sucking SUV to commute to work and back... especially if yer driving by yourself!.... and as far as driving by yourself - don't do it unless you have too. I'm a big fan of the car-pool idea. And public transportation is a good idea too. I had a consulting gig for a month or so in Miami, and communted between Ft. Lauderdale & Miami to do it. I was actually able to take a bus to the train station, the train to Miami, then another bus to the hospital I was doing the work at. As it turned out, it actually took the same amount of time or less (no traffic jams on a train track), plus it cost me less to do that than the $ for the gas if I drove! And I got to sit on the train, read my morning newspaper, drink a cup of coffee, and play with my laptop. (although some think they can drive and so this too I guess..haha).
